Nach 10 Jahren Bandhistorie haben sich KEKAL entschlossen einen Schritt weiterzugehen und (für die Band) neue musikalische Territorien zu erschließen. „The Habit of Fire“ wurde zu einem anspruchsvollen Projektalbum, welches ein neues Statement für die Band markiert. Über 70 Minuten ‚urban avantgarde metal’, welcher vor allem durch seine experimentier Freudigkeit besticht. Neben bedeutend mehr elektronischen Elementen(gegenüber den Vorgängeralben) kommen auch unzählige Musikalische Sub-genre zum Vorschein. Trotz der ganzen Neuerungen des Sounds, haben KEKAL nicht ihre Wurzeln vergessen und versorgen jeden Song noch mit ihren Band-typischen Gitarrenlandschaften.
